At Synadia—the company behind NATS.io—we enable global enterprises and innovative startups to seamlessly connect all their applications and data, no matter where they live or how they’re deployed. Today, end users everywhere expect lower latency and faster access to digital services; with NATS under the hood, distributed applications can finally deliver.

Objectives

As an AI Engineer at Synadia, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our AI systems, starting at the edge, but growing to any scale. You will design, optimize, and deploy state-of-the-art large language models and inference services, building solutions that push the boundaries of what is currently considered the status quo in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Role Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain AI inference services leveraging modern runtimes (e.g., vLLM, llama.cpp, Triton, ONNX).
  • Train and fine-tune large language models for various use cases.
  • Integrate and optimize vector stores to support advanced retrieval and semantic search.
  • Experience with graph databases and algorithms
  • Develop and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for custom AI workflows.
  • Write high-quality Go code to implement, scale, and monitor AI services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design architectures that meet strict latency and throughput requirements.
  • Contribute to open-source initiatives and stay current with cutting-edge research in AI systems.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with LLMs and AI runtimes such as vLLM, llama.cpp, Triton, and ONNX.
  • Proven track record in training and fine-tuning models, including prompt optimization and evaluation.
  • Experience working with vector databases/stores for retrieval-augmented generation and search.
  • Understanding of MCP servers or similar frameworks for orchestrating AI applications.
  • Solid proficiency in Go programming, with a focus on concurrency and performance.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud environments, and high-performance inference pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
